The Perfect Gift

To me, the best gift is one that is unexpected and filled with thought. I mentioned on Twitter that at the beginning of this week my boyfriend went away on a work trip for three days. Naturally I wasn't expecting him to bring me something back - it wasn't like he went on holiday or anything - but upon his safe return he did have a little something for me.

One of the reasons that this gift brought tears to my eyes was because of my current anxiety 'crisis'. I'm not going to lie, I'm having a difficult time with my anxiety at the moment, so this gift was both thoughtful and appropriate. Luke brought me a 'Worry Stone': a medium-sized chunk of Agate crystal shaped like a heart, stashed away in a little velvet pouch. He said that he thought of how I was feeling at the moment and hoped it might help me. Traditionally, Agate is said to encourage confidence and strength, as well as helping to eliminate stress and anxiety. It wasn't expensive or flashy but I was honestly touched by it, it's one of the best gifts I have ever received. I'm hoping that this post isn't too fluffy and cringy and a major case of PDA for you guys, but I really wanted to share it. I think it shows that the best gifts to give or receive are the ones that have been really thought about, whether it cost 50p or £50.

  1. What a lovely idea! When my paranoid thoughts got bad, it always helped to have something like this to keep your mind off of any situation that made me uncomfortable, how thoughtful for your boyfriend to get you this!
