The Happy List #10

Heeeeey guyzzzzzz. Well, it's been a while, hasn't it?! Instead of mulling over the negativity that has stopped me from posting on my blog recently, I've decided to type up another Happy List. My last one was waaaay back in February and currently stands as the only Happy List posting in 2016 at all, which is pretty miserable in itself so I figured it was time to revive the series.

one. I got a new bike! Meet my new baby - an adorable (imo bikes can be adorable, yes) greeny-blue vintage folding bike that I nabbed on eBay. I've always enjoyed bike riding but had always found it embarrassing and I'm not really sure why. But whilst I was flat-and-cat-sitting for my Dad at the beginning of June with Luke we took a trip to the local park so I could try out his bike and I instantly fell in love with cycling again.

I'd been toying with the idea of treating myself to a beautiful vintage bike for a while but as I hadn't ridden in years I wasn't sure if it was worth the investment but as soon as I completed one circuit around the park on Luke's bike I knew it was something I had to do! My mum found this one on eBay and I put in a offer the next morning. Within fifteen minutes the guy had accepted and then, with a stroke of divine luck, he told me that he was passing through Bristol that evening so could deliver the bike to me personally! As soon as it was delivered Luke and I went out to Halfords to buy bike locks and we ended up cycling around the local area for about an hour - the longest amount of time I'd been out without a 'safe base' in months.
two. Marina moved into my town on Animal Crossing. For those of you that didn't know, octupi are my favourite animal and as soon as I realised that there were octopus villagers on New Leaf it's been my dream to have one of them move into Hogwarts. BUT NOW, MY DREAM HAS BEEN REALISED. Marina is honestly the cutest lil thing I've ever seen and I'm never going to let her move out. Ever.
three. Pretty Pokémon cards. So Luke's decided that we're collecting Pokemon cards again. He's recently gotten really into watching pack opening on YouTube (each to their own and all that) and has been on an epic quest ever since to collect EX cards. I can't say that I'm mad about it - some of the EX cards are really beautiful, especially this Gardevoir one! It's technically Luke's since he bought the pack but he said I'm allowed to 'borrow it' for my collection. (I exclusively collect cards that I think are pretty/cute.)
four. Bargain of the year. HOW bloody cool are my new shoes? I picked them up in H&M a few days ago, fully intending to pay the £7 'on sale' price... until I got to the till and they scanned through for £3! Needless to say it made my entire day. I can't wait to wear these with my denim dungaree shorts and a cool black crop top!

five. Sims 4. I feel like every point I've listed so far as been super geeky but I'm 100% okay with that. I go through extreme phases with The Sims - I'll either play it for 14 hours a day or I won't play it at all. At the moment I'm definitely in the first category. Luke and I created a new save together and we've been having loads of fun playing it. I have to admit it's a little stressful for me because we both have very different approaches to running our Sim's lives but I find if I don't watch him too closely then it's all good. I also recently bought the Spa Day expansion pack because I'd been thinking about it for months and it was on offer and I don't regret it at all. It's so fun! I love the yoga and 'wellbeing' aspect to it and am finding it pretty motivational for my own life too!

six. Getting to grips with my new lifestyle. Following suggestions from a few lovely people on Twitter & my family, I decided to cut all gluten, wheat and dairy from my diet recently to see if it made any difference to my health issues. I'm SO happy to report that it worked like a charm and I'm no longer suffering with the extreme symptoms I have been for the past six months. I'm incredibly grateful that the diet change has helped, although it definitely hasn't been smooth sailing. Coupled with my vegetarianism, it has been a real case of '... so what can I eat?' I'm getting there ever so slowly, but progress is progress and I need to recognise that. If you have any tips/tricks/advice then I'd really appreciate it!

  3. So glad to read these happy things! Love that they're mostly geeky. I used to be the same with Sims 1,2 and 3...I would get 4 but I know I'll just play it non stop and won't do anything else. That's great to hear your new diet adjustments have helped, hope you can figure out things to eat despite the restrictions soon. There are surely gf + veg cook books of food blogs out there? Xx

  6. Oh wow, I was actually just looking at my little cousin's old Pokemon cards the other day and remembered I have a huge binder of them. That gardevoir is quite pretty. I always love to look at the art on the cards.

Also your bike is so cute! I've been having some major bike pining, since I'm away from mine. But I'll have plenty of time to ride it when I get home at least!
