Lush Seanik Shampoo Bar

One of the most important things to me as a person is being eco-friendly. I use eco-friendly cat litter, always use canvas bags instead of plastic bags when I go shopping and always, always re-cycle (I even go as far as taking my McDonald's boxes home as they don't re-cycle!). And another way that I'm a green freak is by using one of Lush's shampoo bars.

For those of you who are perplexed at this little chunk of blue stuff, a shampoo bar is pretty much a solid shampoo, kind of like a soap. It is packaging free and can be used for up to 100 washes. I've been using this shampoo bar since the beginning of 2013, and this is my first repurchase. Of course that statistic depends on your hair's thickness and length. My hair is longer than shoulder length but is quite thin, and I wash it 3 - 4 times a week.

Lush do a variety of different shampoo bars, but my favourite is Seanik, an ocean inspired bar packed with softening sea weed and volumising sea salt. The bar itself lathers up so well, it honestly makes no difference between this an a bottled shampoo. To use, you simply wet your hair down (it works best if your hair is really, really wet) and rub the bar around your head. For the first few uses, you could benefit from dipping it into the bath water quickly to help it along.

I personally love this bar for it's volumising properties: it leaves me with subtly bouncy hair that isn't tacky feeling or weighed down with product. It leaves hair soft, yet texturised and will carry me over 3 - 4 days before I need to wash it again, if need be. This is also a vegan product, and isn't tested on animals!

Seanik is available online and instore for £5.75. Seanik is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

  1. I've been wanting to try these out for ages, I've almost finished my last shampoo so it's the perfect excuse to get to the shop! I always liked the smell of the seaweed so I think I'd really like to try this one out!

  3. That stuff is so expensive in the United States, or at least it is at my local store. I went in once and ran out because of the prices.

    1. It is expensive, but I'm very sensible with what I buy and only use a little at a time so it goes a long way for me! x

  5. I've started to become far more eco-conscious and it astounds me how much waste there is that is totally unnecessary - especially with packaging. I really love that Lush offer products with minimal packaging and although I haven't tried the shampoo bars I have tried the conditioners before and got on with them well. I'd definitely consider trying more of their haircare products xx
