Confession: I can't stop buying books. I have a list in my notebook filled with books I want to read and that list seems to get longer every day, despite the fact that I actually have no more room for books anywhere. My bookshelf is full - I have little stacks of books in pretty much every corner of my room! But as I pointed out to my incredulous mum - books are a good thing to spend money and time on, are they not?! And (surprisingly) two out of these three books I've read since getting them. Yay!
The Fault In Our Stars. Since this is not actually a book, let's get it out of the way shall we? Yes, my boyfriend bought me the beloved The Fault In Our Stars on DVD. It was literally the last copy in Sainsbury's (besides Blu-Ray) and so he grabbed it! I'm so so happy as I saw it in the cinema with my mum, so now I can make him watch it!
The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. I really enjoyed this movie and so when I found out it was based on a book I couldn't wait to grab it! Obviously time passed on and many other books claimed my attention so I didn't end up buying it, until I saw it in a charity shop for 50p! Bargain. It's about a man called Pat who leaves the mental facility he's been staying at to move back home with his parents. Pat isn't too interested in recovery - all he can think about is his beloved wife, Nikki. But when she's no where to be seen and no one is willing to talk about her, Pat befriends the mysterious Tiffany and all of the Nikki secrets threaten to come out.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon. I bought this book from the charity shop mentioned above on Halloween for 50p(!) and had finished it by the following afternoon. It's so so good. The character development through-out the book is amazing to read and the main character's behaviours are interesting and thought-provoking without being sad. It's kind-of-but-not-really a mystery book, as the character himself is trying to work out a 'murder' but as you read along you really do try and work out what happened yourself. A very interesting read!
Endgame: The Calling by James Frey.* I received this book at the beginning of October for review and read it fairly quickly - it's a very fast paced book and quite an easy read despite the action and gore. There have been mixed reviews about it, but as I said in my review: I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. It's kind of a dystopian and has been compared to The Hunger Games due to it's summary, but after reading I can tell that the books are in no way similar. You can read my review here.
Hope you're having a good week! x
Great reviews! I'm so jealous of your books. I never knew the silver linnings playbook was a book until I read your post! I must get my hands on them! I love your blog! :)
