Lush Brazilliant Shampoo Bar

It wasn't all that long ago that I bought Jumping Juniper, but my mum sorta accidentally DESTROYED it. (She left it in a tub under a leaky shower head. It essentially melted.) So whilst I was in my new-Lush-bath-bombs euphoria a couple of weeks ago, I managed to regain something resembling common sense and picked up a new shampoo bar. I was drawn to Brazilliant, a vibrant orange shampoo bar that strengthens hair. My hair isn't particularly damaged (nor is it curly/thick, which is what this product is meant to be for) but I thought that it's strengthening properties might help my fine, flat hair in some way. Plus, it smells divine.

If you don't know what a shampoo bar is or how to use it: it's essentially a bottle of shampoo but in solid form. You simply wet your hair, wet the bar and then rub it in circles around your head, plus a little at the ends of your hair. I find that this shampoo bar bubbles up wonderfully, much better than I remember Seanik doing. This might be because this bar is aimed towards moisturising and strengthening, where-as Seanik is very volume-boosting and texturizing. The gorgeous orange scent is brought out once the bar starts to create bubbles, too, which I found lingered in my hair long after I'd washed it away. It's fruity but not too fruity, which I think will appeal to a broader range of people.

After I'd washed and blow-dried my hair (using a sea salt spray) it was the moment of truth - would I like Brazilliant's benefits as much as I do those of Seanik and Jumping Juniper? The answer is yes! Brazilliant's shine-boosting properties work wonderfully with my sea salt spray and my hair looks incredibly healthy, but not too shiny (I prefer matte-ish, textured hair) which I love. It looks a lot thicker too, and feels strong.

I really like this shampoo bar. I think it would be much better suited to someone who has damaged/curly/thick hair, but on my fine hair it worked nicely. I'm not sure if I'd ever repurchase, simply because Seanik and Jumping Juniper are more my thing, but I'd never say never. Maybe the scent will draw me in again one day!

Brazilliant is available in Lush stores and online for £5.75. This shampoo bar is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

  1. Hi Lauren,

Great review - I'm also enjoying Braziliant at the moment and wrote a review (http://www.curiouslyconscious.com/2015/08/lush-brazilliant-shampoo-bar-review.html) but I think yours is a little more informative in the way of the shampoo bar's benefits!

  2. Can totally understand your "my mum destroyed it"-thing; I was keeping 10 empty pots of Lush products to get a free one or two, and my dad threw away all of them. When I asked him why did he do that, he just said:"You're always messy"
