The Sunday Post 09

 { This week :: home comforts and self-care. }

one. This week started off as exciting yet stressful as the previous week as I tackled two 'big' outings within two days. This may seem very trivial to a lot of people but having plans one day after another is always a bit scary for me and always leaves me feeling overly anxious. On Monday I went to the cinema with my dad and Luke to watch Suicide Squad. It was supposed to happen weeks ago as my dad's birthday outing but he's been feeling really unwell recently so we pushed it back until he felt better. The film was great - I love Harley Quinn - and although I was convinced this certain guy was going to throw up/rob us all at knife point I was able to sit through the entire thing. I was so proud of myself for enduring and it spurred me to tackle a quick trip to town, too. I only went in a few stores - H&M, Tiger and Lush - but I was able to pick up everything that I needed to so it was a pretty successful day all round!
two. Tuesday was my little sister's birthday. She turned nine years old and we celebrated by going to the bowling alley along with Luke, our mum, our brother Matt, our sister Chelsea and our cousin Libby. I did share a few clips of our bowling expertise on Snapchat (whatlaurendidx) and it was a lot of fun to play with so many people. I lost both games because I suck at bowling, but my mum, Matt and Leigh were really good. I think Luke and I are going to make a habit of going bowling once every couple of weeks because we're cool like that.
three. My recent string of adventure days well and truly caught up with me this week. I'm always vulnerable to illness whenever I've been feeling particularly anxious and I had to take several days out towards the end of this week to lie in bed whilst watching Sex and the City and eating rice and vegetables. I literally have no patience with being physically ill, it always feels like such a waste of my time when mentally I'm feeling okay. But I did particularly enjoy the Sex and the City marathon that took place on Thursday and I was able to finally pick up a new book.
four. I picked up a new bath bomb when I was in town on Monday and used it the same night. It's been so long since I've been able to do that - partly because of the weather, partly because my low mood made me lose interest in bath bombs - and I actually really enjoyed it. I used Yoga Bomb, which is one I tried last year but I was a bit too starry-eyed about Intergalactic and The Experimenter to get excited over it. It's took much longer to fizz out than I remember - I'm talking 10-15 minutes - but the burst of colours at the end definitely surprised me. It's supposed to be a very soothing and relaxing bath bomb and I can confirm it was!

five. Finally - you might have noticed that my blog is looking a little bit different! I reverted back to my old template with my old header. I can't really explain it but the swish, professional layout made me feel quite pressurised to turn What Lauren Did Today into a swish, professional blog. It's something quite small really but just having my old layout, with all of the little details that I myself had to manually code, makes me feel a lot more comfortable and free to share whatever I want, even if it's a crappy iPhone photo like all of the ones in this post.

I don't think I have much else to report this week! I've been feeling quite low but hopefully a trip to the doctor's next week and a shake-up of my prescription will sort that out.

Did you get up to anything fun?

  2. I am pretty much obsessed with that cat print on your top picture - where is it from?! Also, I always enjoy reading your blogs and catching up on how you're doing - your honestly and frankness with what you're dealing with is brilliant.

  5. Yoga is such a nice bath bomb when you have been feeling extremely anxious because it releases a lot of calming scents. Suicide Squad was amazing, I enjoyed Harley Quinn too and it seems like you have had another good week as far as anxiety goes. Keep up the good work! :) xx

  6. I want to see Suicide Squad! Looks like you had a lovely week. I get jealous whenever I see people enjoying a colorful Lush bath because there is no Lush near me. ♥
