Lush T'eo Deodorant

I'm sure you guys are aware of my fascination with Lush's solid products. I've used their shampoo bars exclusively since 2013 plus I'm more than partial to their bubble bars. I recently made the decision to branch out a little more and to try products that I'm not as familiar with (which is what led me to pick up the Sugar Scrub) and this time around I decided to try the T'eo deodorant.

T'eo is one of four deodorants that Lush offers - the others being AromacoThe Guv'ner and The Greeench - and in my opinion it's the one with the nicest scent! The essential oils used, including tea tree and juniperberry oils, are not only refreshing and uplifting to smell but are also anti-bacterial and anti-septic. Unforunately T'eo isn't a completely natural product as the absorbing powder is bicarbonate soda, plus there's blue wax that forms the base of the product, but they're 'safe' synthetics according to the Lush website.
{ HOW TO USE }
One of my favourite things about getting a new Lush product is figuring out how to use it as they don't always come with instructions! I did a little research online and the 'official' instructions state to simply rub the bar into your hand to remove the top layer and then to apply it right onto your armpit. Now I don't know what kind of industrial strength skin these Lush testers have, but I tried doing that and it h u r t s. Similar to the Sugar Scrub, I found it very rough and scratchy on my skin. I also didn't feel as protected and fresh as I did when I applied it to damp skin - nor did it leave me as odor-free. The block itself is really comfortable to hold due to it's size and shape, plus it's not heavy and the blue wax bottom means you're unlikely to drop it (unless you're hella clumsy like me). Alternatively, I've also heard of people wiping the top layer onto their hand and then using a blusher brush to apply the product so I tried that too but I really didn't find that it applied much product to my skin at all.

{ DOES IT WORK? }
In all honesty, I'm undecided. Some days it leaves me fresh and dry all day, others it wears off within an hour. On Monday Luke & I walked to the cinema and back and it gave me 0 protection at all and yet on the hottest day of the year so far it worked wonderfully. I do find that the sherberty scent lasts really well but the unpleasant smell does come through quite easily and isn't masked all that well. It doesn't leave me completely dry all day, either. It does for the first few hours but as the day goes on my underarms begin to get damp and that aint cute. On the plus side I've been using it every day for almost two weeks now and it doesn't seem to have reduced in size at all - not even a little. I have noticed that the pretty white surface is beginning to turn a little yellow (which is gross) but other than that, it still looks and feels like I just bought it.

To be honest, I don't think I'd recommend this deodorant to anyone. It smells divine and it does work but it's so hit and miss plus the application is awkward and scratchy. I did also pick up a sample of the Aromaco solid deodorant, so let me know if you'd like me to review/share my first impressions of that one too!

T'eo is available online and in store for £4.95. This deodorant is suitable for vegetarian and vegans.

  1. It's a shame you wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I am a complete Lush fanatic but haven't tried any of their Deodorants cause I haven't heard good things. I wish they would make them in a spray or roll on bottle though :) xx

  3. It's nice to see a flip side like this to reviews, I have tried a couple natural deodorants myself like the Salt of the Earth one from H&B and found the same results, I have to say though Superdrugs own brand spray on is fab, and actually keeps me odour free! Cruelty free & affordable :) x

  4. I didn't even know Lush had solid deodorants! I am a massive fan of their solid shampoo bars as well, they are great for traveling. I'm someone who seriously needs a heavy duty deodorant (TMI) so I don't think I'll be reaching for these any time soon but good to know that they are out there and do exist! xx

  5. This is the first I've heard that Lush even had deodorants, I must have missed them every time I've been in their stores! To be honest I'm not interested in trying their deodorants because I like the one I use now but I'm glad you've shared your experience because it's good to know what they're like for future reference. I'll stick to their bath, shower, hair and perfume products for the moment haha!

  6. It took me quite a while to get use to the t'eo. It hurt for a while while my skin was getting use to it. I love the smell, but when I first started using it my underarms would burn,break out in a painful rash and it made me sweat even more. I didn't use it for the longest time, then used it again when I ran out of my regular deodorant. I have to use it regularly, and there have been times when I work out and my shirt is wet, but no more bad body odour. It took quite a while for me to get use to it though.
