Lush Jumping Juniper Shampoo Bar

I've been completely dedicated to using Lush shampoo bars for the past few years. They're convenient, eco-friendly and there's basically one for everyone - no matter your hair type. I've been a huge lover of Seanik (review here) for around 3 years now, but I decided it was time to treat my hair to something a bit different, so I had a quick chat with the sales assistant (who was lovely) and purchased the Jumping Juniper shampoo bar.

Lush Says: "Perfect for when hair needs a really deep clean. Juniperberry gets to work regulating sebum production, clearing the scalp. We've also used calming lavender and antibacterial rosemary essential oils to soothe and cleanse the scalp. Lemon and lime oils give shine, as they help the cuticles on your hair lie flat, enabling them to reflect more light."

TMI Alert: I naturally have quite greasy hair. It'll look and feel pretty rank within a day or so, and I usually combat it with dry shampoo, but it does mean that my hair needs quite a deep cleanse when it's time to wash it. My hair is also suuuuper fine and thin, and the greasiness really does weigh it down.

Jumping Juniper is perfect for me - its deep-cleansing, anti-bacterial properties leaves my hair feeling fresh, clean and soft. And the smell - ahhhh. It smells fruity, due to the lemon and lime oils used, but it's not too fruity. The lavender and rosemary oils balance it out, but it's still a very fresh, spring-like scent. It lingered in my hair long after I'd washed and dried it. It lathers up perfectly (I think a lot better than Seanik) and immediately after it's rinsed my hair feels a lot fresher, more light-weight. I don't find that it does anything spectacular, volume-wise, but when used with a hair dryer and an accompanying product it does the job!

My only problem with this shampoo bar is that I find it quite drying, and not really suitable for everyday use. Paired with the Veganese conditioner it's lovely, but I do find it a little too deep-cleansing to use everyday.

This shampoo bar is 100% cruelty-free, packaging-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. You can buy this bar for £5.75 in any Lush store, or online here.

  1. This sounds great for a deep cleanse! I'm still not quite in to the shampoo bars yet as my hair is just so thick it takes forever, but I love Lush's I Love Juicy shampoo which I use for a deep clean once a week or fortnight xx

  2. I was thinking of taking a shampoo bar for my upcoming trip to Japan as it will be easier to carry round, I've never used one before though! Are they easy to use?

    1. Super easy to use! You just wet it and rub it around your head - kind of like the way you'd use soap on your body. It foams brilliantly x

  4. I've been looking at the Lush Shampoo bars but didn't know which one to get. My hair sounds quite similar to yours so I'm definitely going to give it go! I keep using L'Oreal at the moment but I much prefer more natural products for my hair and skin care. :)

  5. Oh... I might have to try this because I also have super greasy hair. It looks so bad after just six hours, and it's so embarrassing.

    Great review!
