Aztec, Sunni & Penguin

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll have noticed that I popped up a photo of three lckle baby chickens a few weeks ago. I also mentioned them here on my blog, but if you didn't catch that post then let me fill you in: Aztec, Penguin and Sunni are three chicks that I'm fostering over the summer for my sister's school. I've had them for nearly one month now and I've got to know their personalities so thought I'd do a whole post talking about them.

Sunni would not let me take a photo of her sisters. I find this photo so funny!

They're Pekin chickens, which are a lot smaller than you'd expect. They're very plump and have feathery little feet which I think is adorable. They've grown an insane amount in about a month or so - check this post, where I shared a photo of them at 4 weeks old!

Sunni is the yellow one and is definitely the most friendly. She likes exploring the kitchen when let out for a run and is definitely not nervous around us at all. In fact, if you pick her up she's more than happy to just sit on your arm and look around for a little while. We think she is the oldest as her little pink chicken-y bits around her beak are growing bigger faster than the other two. Aztec is the brown, and she has black and cream patterns on her feathers which inspired her name. She's the bad-ass one -  she's always the first one to approach new things in their little enclosure and to try different foods (although they weren't keen on the cucumber) She doesn't like being handled as much as the other two and she isn't afraid to peck your hand whilst eating from it. Penguin is the little grey and white one. She's a complete sweetheart, a little skittish but very sweet. She hangs back a lot more than the other two and prefers to be handled by just me or my mum. She's the smallest of the three and gets tired a lot quicker whilst the others are running around.

What do you think of my unusual house guests? I'm definitely going to miss them when they're gone! I'm fostering them for my little sister's schools over the summer holiday so they'll be going back soon but I hope that I'll be able to pop in from time to time and check on them.
