Wreck This Journal #6

Hihi! I've been (semi) creative again! I actually dubbed April as my 'Self Improvement Month' in an effort to start doing all of the fun things I've been putting off, like learning a new language, how to write calligraphy and to also push myself with my anxiety. It's going pretty well so far, and today I have some physical proof!

Document Time Passing. I've seen so many beautiful creations on Pinterest for this page: illustrations of the seasons changing, the life cycle of a person and imaginative calendar and clock type things. But I decided to give into my current fangirl obsession and decided to show time passing by doodling the original and the new Team Avatar from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. On the left page we have Avatar Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko and Toph and on the right page we have Avatar Korra, Asami, Mako and Bolin. I'm actually so pleased with these little drawings! Toph, Zuko, Mako and Korra are my favourite ones (although I'm not overally happy with Katara or Sokka). I drew them originally in pencil then coloured them in with pencil crayons and went around the outline with a black pen. I feel like I might want to add some little decorations or maybe colour the background because there is a little bit of white space that could be filled but I haven't decided on anything yet!
Hide A Secret Message Somewhere In This Book. I got the inspiration for this on Pinterest - I think it's SO clever! If you're a Pretty Little Liars fan then you know how iconic the title song is and I feel like my addition of the flowers and fallen petals (made to look like blood drops) make it a bit creepier. I think this is my favourite WTJ that I've ever done, I almost feel like it's too good for me to have done it. I did the writing using a cool technique that I found on Pinterest and after a few test runs in a notebook I pencilled it onto the page before going over it with black and red pen. Obviously I was supposed to use red pen on each 'A' but I kinda forgot on the second page and did one of them in black. Oops! This was my first try at calligraphy (aside from my Elvish writing) and I think I did pretty well! It's no where near perfect and I have a lot of practicing to do but I'm proud of it.

What do you think of my new pages? Which is your favourite?

  5. Oooh I love looking at other people's Wreck This Journal pages! Recently I just got back into mine after a few months of totally forgetting about it, and I'm definitely on the search for inspiration. I really want to try to learn some calligraphy or hand-lettering for a few of my pages too, yours turned out really nicely!

  6. I love this idea to use with my clients in therapy. Thanks so much for sharing. I do wish you the best with your anxiety. I used a lot of unhealthy methods, before I finally found a healthy one that worked for me.

  9. These are all so cute! I had a Wreck This Journal ages ago but I gave up because I felt SO uncreative and rubbish about it haha. I sort of want to start bullet journalling though if I get time!

    1. Thank you! I've never really been happy with my Wreck This Journal to be honest pretty much for the same reason - I'm definitely more writing-creative than artistic-creative if that makes sense! x
