The Happy List #7

1. Christmas Shopping. I've put a lot more time, effort and money into my Christmas shopping this year and now I can't wait to give everyone their presents. I bought my mum something pretty special that she's always wanted but has never been able to buy and my boyfriend... well I feel like it's going to take him ages to open all of this gifts this year! He spoils me every year but this year I'm determined to spoil him. They aren't all massively expensive - aside from his 'big' present and one or two other things, they've all been under the £5 mark. I'm just hoping he likes them all!

2. Advent Calendars. This is the second and final Chrismassy point in this post, I swear! But I am very excited about my advent calendar this year - I bought the Makeup Revolution one! I've already dedicated an entire post to it, so be sure to check that out if you're interested. I also sneakily bought my boyfriend a Lindt advent calendar this year, as it's his favourite type of chocolate and I felt kinda bad about him having a regular one whilst I was opening the advent calendar of my dreams. We're literally counting down the days until December 1st!

3. My New Ikea Unit. So I went to Ikea.. again. But this time I left with more than a belly full of Quorn hot dogs! The ceiling light in my bedroom hasn't worked for ages now, so for the past couple of months I've been using a little lamp or my phone to light up my room. But now that's it's getting so dark so early, I figured it was about time I got a proper light. So I chose this one and it's so bright and amazing. I also bought another Billy bookcase to go next to my bed and I'm in love with it. I'm going to do another post soon showing it off properly so keep an eye out for that! My bedroom is now pretty much finished now - just have to replace the flooring, but I'm not planning on doing that any time soon!

4. Looking Back on 2015. I've been feeling really defeated recently, and like I haven't accomplished anything this year. I think it's because I set myself some really high anxiety-related goals and I haven't managed to complete them. But then I remember all of the steps I've taken and I realise that I have achieved so much. I got my nose pierced, I went to the All Time Low concert, I went on holiday with my dad, I've had panic attacks whilst out and haven't run home crying, I re-connected with some of my oldest friends, I became cruelty-free... I feel like I don't pay enough attention to the bigger picture - the one that all of these small achievements help to create - and it's something I've been trying to do a lot recently.
5. My Cat Jumper.  As seen in this haul. I just love it. It makes me so happy.

6. Waterstones. I never really used to spend much time in Waterstones whilst I was in town, but recently it's become my safe place. I think I mentioned it already at some point, but they've recently renovated and so the YA corner (which is where I spend all my time) has some arm chairs and a sofa. So now I can just sit and relax and be among books and calm down whenever I'm feeling on edge and overwhelmed.

7. Reading. I'm in a very 'I want to read everything' mood at the moment, and I'm not really sure where it came from but I'm embracing it. I'm currently reading Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer, but I'm also reading My True Love Gave To Me, and Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. I'm contemplating picking up Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, too. I think it's all of the pressing festivities - I want to read wintery books!

What has made you happy recently? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!

  1. Some great things to be happy about! I love giving gifts though for the past 5 years or so we haven't really been able to properly afford Xmas and some years only the dog has gotten a gift. But it doesn't matter to us ha.
As for reading - I need to schedule in more time for it. I love buying new (old, 2nd hand) books so have lots to get through. :P

  4. I think the whole point of reflecting on the past is to think of the smaller things which in turn become the bigger things, any accomplishment how ever small is still an accompaniment. I'm still working toward my yearly reading goal so I really want to read anything I can. =^-^=
